Unpacking is an installation for the New York City Beaux Arts Ball 2017, done in collaboration with Asal Far, a fellow graduate student, and Brett Schneider and Lizzie Hodges from Guy Nordensen, NYC.
The installation consists of a five hundred foot long curtain rigged and hanging from the ceiling of a massive Brooklyn Navy Yard building. The undulating, twisting, and folding fabric provides a backdrop for dramatic lighting and a night of dancing.
My involvement included the fabrication of all rigging lines, hardware, sewing of fabric and on-site direction and installation. I was involved in the design of the hanging apparatus as well as some budgeting, material research, and buying.
